Bio

Dorina was born in Rotterdam, Holland to Dutch and Indonesian parents. At an early age she immigrated with her family from 'The Netherlands' to Canada. She lived in Armstrong BC for a short while and eventually resided in the beautiful Similkameen Valley, in the community of Princeton BC where she grew up.

Art has always been a part of Dorina's life. As a young girl, she remembers many moments sitting at the kitchen table drawing. She eventually began creating pet and people portraits for her family and friends.

Dorina is a self taught artist. She has had some training through correspondence courses, in Realistic Drawing, Fashion Drawing & Illustration, and Painting Techniques. Upon completion she began exploring her capabilities and did a variety of freelance art and commission work in portraiture, caricature, logo design and fashion illustration while watercolor painting.

In the mid-90's she started a business called Wallworks By Dorina. She performed custom work painting theme murals and decorative finishes for residential and commercial properties. Dorina enjoyed her work and she is grateful to have worked 17 years in business servicing Kelowna and the surrounding Okanagan Valley and to have met so many great people in the midst of doing the creative work she loved.

In 2005, Dorina pursued her passion for her first love in the fine art of painting, challenging her skill by working with various mediums and techniques. She also began exploring with sculpture in 2009 and painting on silk in 2013.

Dorina is a contemporary artist. She paints a wide variety in subject matter that reflects her passion for the simple beauty in nature. Her preferred mediums are acrylics and working with watercolors.

Dorina currently lives in Kelowna BC with her husband, and together they share two wonderful sons.
